Myanmar security forces opened fire at a funeral on Sunday, a media report said quoting eyewitnesses. This came a day after Myanmar marked the bloodiest day with 107 deaths since the February 1 coup. According to Reuters reports, security forces opened fire at the funeral of a 20-year-old student, Thae Maung Maung in Bago near Myanmar’s capital Yangon.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, Reuters report said, citing witnesses.

According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) monitoring group, on Sunday, 13 people were killed as people across the nation gathered to mourn the death of those who were killed a day earlier. The death toll from the crackdown by troops since the February 1 coup has gone up to 459 now, AAPP said.
A woman, namely Aye, told Reuters that at Thae’s funeral, when they started singing a revolution song for him, “security forces just arrived and shot at us.” People ran away as security forces opened fire, she added.

Despite crackdowns and deaths, on Sunday, protesters came out on streets in parts of Yangon and several other cities across Myanmar. Meanwhile, witnesses and local media reports said that after Saturday’s military airstrikes on one of several ethnic militias, thousands of villagers in the border area fled to Thailand, Reuters reported.
