Minutes after reports of Uttar Pradesh gangster
Vikas Dubey’s killing during an encounter in Kanpur’s Barra area came to light, former state Chief
Minister Akhilesh Yadav raised questions on the entire incident.

The Samajwadi Party Chief took to Twitter and said, “Actually,
the car didn’t overturn, in fact it’s a way of protecting the state government from
being overturned, before the spilling of beans.”

Even earlier, Akhilesh had questioned Dubey’s arrest
and had said, ‘was the gangster arrested or he surrendered?’

The speculations came amid reports that Dubey may
have had everything planned to dodge the shoot-at-sight orders that were issued
against him soon after he went missing following the Kanpur massacre on July 3.

He made sure all bystanders knew who he was and
shouted “Mein Vikas Dubey Kanpur Wallah! (I am Vikas Dubey form
Kanpur)”, several times – inside the temple and outside while he was being
taken by the police – to identify himself. A video footage by news ageny ANI
shows the gangster screaming out his name.

Akhilesh had also sought details of the gangster’s
call records, stating “the records must be made public to see who all were
involved.”
