Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang or Ant-Man again in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project. This time, the adventures are likely to take place in the quantum realm, with Ant-Man being joined by his partner Hope and daughter, Cassie, who grew up while Scott was away for the period when Thanos snapped his fingers and he was trapped in the quantum realm.
The first poster for the movie is already out and shows Kang the Conqueror as the looming villain. The individual will become a Thanos-like figure as the latest phase builds towards the big bad guy that the heroes have to defeat.
Ant-Man includes the usual Marvel recipe of adventure with bits of humour, but Rudd’s portrayal of a father who’s just trying to be there for his daughter has been evocative in parts. Lang starts off as a thief but when he breaks into scientist Hank Pym’s residence, he discovers the Pym particles which power the Ant-Man suit, allowing the protagonist to shrink and even communicate with ants. In later movies, we see Ant-Man also grow massively in size – a power that comes in handy when the Avengers are duking it out during Civil War.
Every hero needs a funny sidekick and this is where Michael Pena shines as Luis, the talkative friend. While he keeps rambling, viewers get a humourous rundown of events, so they always know the latest incidents in Ant-Man’s life and the world around him.
