The twin towers of Noida, which were built by Supertech Realtors, were brought down on orders of the Supreme Court of India. Sunday, August 28, 2022 was chosen as the day for this demolition. Around 7,000 people had to be evacuated from nearby residential complexes in order to carry out the demolition.’

Regarding the disposal of the resulting debris from the demolition, Noida Authority’s General Manager (Planning), Ishtiaq Ahmed, said to PTI,

“The post demolition debris would be managed scientifically as per rules and guidelines. A final decision on it would come from the regional pollution control board which is examining a report from Edifice Engineering on debris management.”

The demolition was carried out after a court battle that went on for nine years. Both the Allahabad High Court and the Supreme Court of India were of the opinion that the construction of the towers did not meet the required standards.

The two towers were called Apex and Ceyane and were 103 metres and 97 metres high, respectively. After the demolition was carried out, the constructors released a statement saying  “We assure all our home buyers that the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court will not affect any other ongoing project and all other projects will continue and we are committed to complete construction and deliver the flats to the allottees as per the schedule time.”
