Ben Stokes retired from ODIs recently. The England Test captain played his last 50-over game against South Africa at Durham.
Stokes put up an ordinary performance in his last ODI. The 31-year-old remained wicketless and conceded 44 runs in five overs. With the bat, he scored only 5 runs as Aiden Markram trapped him in front. Stokes finished his ODI career with 2924 runs and overall took 74 wickets in 105 matches.

After puuting up a 333-run total in the first innings, South Africa restricted England to 271 and won the match by 62 runs.
“From myself and the rest of the England supporters we want to say thank you (to Ben Stokes). Every day he turns up he puts in a 100 percent and has been a great ambassador of the game,” England captain Jos Buttler said.
Rassie van der Dussen was named the player of the match for his 134-run knock in the first innings.

“Pretty hot today. We are used to it but it was quite dry and windy. We came into this series knowing we have to play smart cricket, physically it was hard but the game plan was to get into a good position and run hard. He (Markram) played brilliantly, all the guys who came in showed great intent. We are pretty happy with the batting effort. We will see how we did tomorrow and be ready to go again in three days’ time,” the Protea batter said.
