Amazon Quiz: In which European country is this location located?

France

Austria

Italy

Switzerland

Answer: Switzerland

Switzerland is one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, and the Swiss Alps remain a treasured sight. The country, known for its cheese, chocolates, and thus-far neutral stance, decided to abandon the latter during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, Switzerland imposed fine-tuned sanctions on Russia, which sent in troops on February 24, in order to “denazify” the neighbouring country.

With its capital in Bern, Switzerland has been known as a banking safe haven. The country’s second most populated city is Geneva, and it is located right at the southern tip of the vast Lac Léman or Lake Geneva. It is surrounded by both the Alps and the Jura mountains and is the headquarter of the Red Cross as well as the United Nations.

The country is known for its linguistic diversity, and of the many amazing things that Switzerland has to offer the world, one is fondue. Seeing that cheese is already a forte for the nation, it isn’t a far leap to have a specific preparation where molten cheese is placed in a large bowl, in which pieces of bread can be dipped with a long fork, and then eaten.

It is served in a communal bowl and was initially popularized in the 1930s by the Swiss cheese union, as a way of getting people to consume more cheese.

The country has also given the world great precision watches and Heidi, the orphan Heidi, who is memorialized forever in the novel by Johanna Spyri.
