Amazon Quiz: India recently overtook which country to become the world’s 5th largest economy?

Options:

USA

UK

China

Germany

Answer- UK

In its 75th year of independence, India managed to overtake the United Kingdom to become the fifth largest economy in the world. This was a matter to celebrate for Indians as they managed to overtake their former colonial masters in the year the country is celebrating its 75th independence day. India is now behind the US, China, Japan, and Germany when it comes to the largest economies in the world.

The United Kingdom is currently going through an economic crisis. The country is suffering from their worst inflation in four decades. The cost-of-living crisis has resulted in mass protests within the country. Liz Truss, the new British Prime Minister who defeated Rishi Sunak to become the leader of the Conservative Party post the resignation of Boris Johnson, will have to lead the country during through these tough economic conditions.

Despite becoming the fifth largest economy in the world, India still has a number of challenges it has to surmount. The country’s poor rank on the Global Hunger Index (101 out of 116) is a matter of concern. While Gautam Adani, the Indian tycoon, is second on the list of world’s richest men, a large section of the Indian society evidently goes to sleep on an empty stomach.

This is even more shocking when we take into account the fact that India is the world’s second-largest food-producing country.
