Casemiro is a Brazilian footballer who has had a remarkable career with Real Madrid. During his time at the Spanish capital, the 30-year-old managed to win five Champions League titles, three La Ligas, one Copa Del Rey, as well as three FIFA Club World Cups.
Casemiro started his professional career with the Brazilian club, Sao Paulo. Besides the midfielder, other notable names in the club’s alumni list include Kaka. Cafu, and Oscar.
Casemiro’s first senior career goal came on August 15, 2010, when he netted his team’s equalizer against Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. In 2013, he made his switch to Real Madrid and began his career in Spain for the club’s B-team, Real Madrid Castilla. After a brief loan spell to Porto in 2014, Casemiro came back to Los Blancos in 2015 and was a steady presence in the starting XI until his recent switch to Manchester United.
The defensive midfielder made his debut for Brazil in 2011 and has made a total of 65 appearances in his national colours till date. He was in the starting XI of the Brazil team that lost 0-1 to Argetina in the final of the 2021 Copa America.
A ball-hungry aggressive defender, Casemiro has received praise for his tactical play, work-rate, and physical strength. In 2016, Diego Simeone, the manager of city-rivals Atletico Madrid, called him the most important player in the Los Blancos squad.
