Ciragan Palace
Ihlamur Palace
Topkapi Palace
Yildiz Palace
Answer: Topkapi Palace
The Topkapi Palace, literally meaning the ‘Cannon Gate Palace’, is located in Istanbul in Turkey and served as the residence of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire.
Construction of the Topkapi Palace was ordered by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, and began in 1459, six years after the fall of Constantinople.
Accounts suggest that the palace was completed in the late 1460s, following which it served as a royal residence for the Ottoman Sultans.
The complex expanded over several centuries, and major renovations took place after the 1509 earthquake and the 1665 fire.
Today, the Topkapi Palace serves as a museum and tourist attraction.
