Patrick Stewart, known for playing X-Men founder Professor X in multiple films in the series, returns to his iconic role in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) new film, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ which will be released in theatres on May 6, 2022.

Stewart made his name in the movie industry after he was picked for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ (1987–1994). The show’s unexpected success and popularity helped launch his career, and he went on to play Picard in several Star Trek movies between 1994 and 2002.

The 81-year-old has played Professor X in seven X-Men movies till date – the original X-Men trilogy (2000-2006), ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ (2009), ‘The Wolverine’ (2013), ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ (2014) and ‘Logan’ (2017).

Notably, this will be the first appearance of Professor X in a movie under the MCU, which has remained without the iconic group of mutants thus far. Professor X’s introduction in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ has sparked discussion of the X-Men making appearances in future MCU movies.

Stewart is among a host of stars are in the movie, whose cast includes the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo.
