Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production, which is the sequel of the 2018 film Black Panther starring the late Chadwick Boseman. Although who will replace Boseman as the new Black Panther has not yet been revealed, details of the other cast members are out. Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta will be seen in the firm as Namor, the ruler of an underwater kingdom called Talocan. Notably, Huerta had to learn the Mayan language for portraying this character.
While Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, is helming this project, a number of cast members from the 2018 film are also making a comeback. These include Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, and Danai Gurira as Okoye.
At the San Diego Comic Con, Variety interviewed Huerta regarding his joining the MCU. The actor said, “It’s amazing. I mean, everybody pretends to be a superhero or to be part of [these] movies, and then you are part of it. And then you are the superhero, and then you are wearing the costume. It’s your skin, your voice, your brain, your talent, your story. It’s overwhelming.” Huerta was earlier seen in the horror films The Forever Purge and Madres in 2021
The character Namor first appeared in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939. He belongs to the fictional race called homo mermanus and possesses superhuman strength, hydrokinesis, and other powers which make him a revered force among all aquatic Marvel characters. Notably, Namor is the first ever anti-hero from the comic book world. Namor has had associations with X-Men, the Illuminati, the Phoenix Five, and the Fantastic Four. The character is also known as “Marvel’s first mutant”.
