The recently concluded T20I series between Pakistan and England saw seven matches being played between the two sides. Pakistan vice captain and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan finished as the top scorer of the series with 316 runs at an average of 63.20 despite the home side’s series loss. Rizwan had also ended his Asia Cup 2022 campaign as the tournament’s highest scorer. He was followed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who scored 285 runs.
In terms of wickets taken, Haris Rauf rules the roost with eight scalps to his name.
Regarding Ben Stokes‘ inclusion in England’s T20 World Cup side after he was not selected for the Pakistan tour, the Three Lions’ coach, Matthew Mott, said, “Jos in particular is clear that he’s a top-four player. Those conditions in Australia will suit the way he plays. You always have a bit of flexibility with the batting but he will be expected to be higher in the innings.”
Regarding Pakistan’s batting performances in the series, the PCB’s chief selector, Mohammad Wasim said,
“Obviously, the sort of cricket England and a few others are playing, they are one step ahead of us in terms of their approach. For us, it will take time to be fully converted into this brand of cricket, because for it you need certain players to be fully ready.”
