The FIBA World Cup, also known as FIBA Basketball World Cup and FIBA World Cup of Basketball, is an international basketball tournament and the flagship event of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The competition includes senior men’s national teams that are members of the governing body.
The structure of the tournament bears resemblance to the FIFA World Cup. For women’s teams, a parallel event known as the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is also conducted once every four years.
The present format of the FIBA World Cup comprises 32 teams that compete to win the title at locations in the host country. The winning team is felicitated with the Naismith Trophy, which was first awarded in 1967.
The last tournament took place in 2019. It was won by Spain, who defeated Argentina in the final game.
