The Crown is a British TV series that began airing on November 4, 2016. The fifth episode of the popular drama show that depicts the life of Queen Elizabeth II as the British monarch will air its fifth season from November 9, 2022.
One of the most talked-about elements of Elizabeth II’s rule has been the life and eventual death of her daughter-in-law, Princess Diana, who was married to then Prince of Wales, Charles. The series depicts the relationship shared between Elizabeth and Diana in the fourth season. The character of Diana was portrayed by Emma Corin. In the first and second seasons of The Crown, Claire Foy played Queen Elizabeth II, while Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman took up the mantle from the third season onwards.
Diana was a controversial figure during her lifetime. She was more open and independent than other members of the royal family and sometimes openly flouted protocol. She passed away in a car accident in Paris when she was only 36-year-old.
Besides portraying the character of Diana, Corin has also acted in the British detective series Grantchester and the DC series Pennyworth. Corin, who prefers using the pronouns they/them also became the first ever non-binary person to feature on the cover of Vogue magazine.
