Amazon Quiz (January 16, 2022): Which country has made same sex marriage to be legal from July 1, 2022?

Switzerland

France

Germany

Austria

Answer: Switzerland

While Switzerland has allowed the registration of same-sex couples since 2007, following a 2005 referendum, the country has not yet legalised same-sex marriage.

Legislation calling for the legalisation of same-sex marriage was introduced in Switzerland in 2013, and was finally passed in the Swiss Parliament after seven long years in 2020.

The legislation was subsequently adopted in a referendum in September 2021, with 64.1% of votes in its favour, and the country is slated to legalise same-sex marriage from July 1, 2022.
