Which country’s flag is this?
Romania
Latvia
Greece
Finland
Answer: Greece
Greece is the southernmost of the Balkan Peninsula’s countries. The country’s development has been strongly influenced by geography. Mountains have historically hampered internal connection, but the sea has offered up new possibilities. Greece’s overall land area (one-fifth of which is made up of Greek islands) is comparable to England or the state of Alabama in the United States.
There are about 2,000 islands in Greece, with roughly 170 of them being inhabited; some of the easternmost Aegean islands are only a few kilometres off the Turkish shore. Athens, the country’s capital, grew dramatically in the second half of the twentieth century. The area around the capital, Attik (ancient Greek: Attica), presently houses around one-third of the country’s inhabitants.
