Max Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Prix on October 10, 2022 to seal the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship. This was his second consecutive F1 victory. The race, which took place in Japan’s Suzuka, was clouded by many difficulties, including heavy rains. Out of the 53 scheduled laps, only 29 could be completed as a result of the rain. Moreover, a tractor was deployed on the track in the middle of the race, leading to fans blaming authorities on social media.
After the win, the 25-year-old Belgian-Dutch driver said, “The first one is a little more emotional, the second one is more beautiful”.
In an interview with Sky Sports F1, he said, “It’s a crazy feeling of course because I didn’t expect it when I crossed the line”, further adding, “Of course, you could see it happening but it’s incredible at the end of the day that we did win it here.”
After his victory in Japan, Verstappen went on to claim the constructors’ world championship at the United States Grand Prix. His win came after an intense battle with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. This victory was Verstappen’s 13th win in 2022.
