Amazon Quiz: Which institution has launched “Saa₹thi” – a mobile app on investor education?

Options:

RBI

SEBI

FICCI

SBI

Answer- SEBI

The Saathi app was introduced by SEBI Chairman Ajay Tyagi with the goal of raising users’ awareness of fundamental market ideas, the KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure, mutual funds, and other topics.

According to a report by Livemint, Tyagi said during the launch, “This mobile app is yet another initiative of Sebi with a view to empowering investors with knowledge about securities market. With the recent surge in individual investors entering the market, and more importantly a large proportion of trading being mobile phone-based, this App will be helpful in easily accessing the relevant information. I am sure that in coming times this App will be popular among the investors especially the young ones”.

In order to strengthen its efforts to safeguard investors‘ interests, advance market transparency, and increase investor awareness, trust, and confidence, Sebi produced the “Investor Charter” for securities markets last year.

Since then, Sebi has worked with the relevant companies to produce unique investor charters governing the investor-related activities of various intermediaries. For stock exchanges, depositories, Sebi-registered intermediaries, and regulated organisations like stockbrokers, depository participants, asset management companies, registrar and transfer agents, investment advisers, research analysts, merchant bankers, etc., separate investor charters have been developed.

Investors can expect these charters to make it easier for them to invest in the Indian securities market.
