Only a few days after Pakistan was shaken by a video of  a woman and her six companions being brutally attacked and robbed by a mob near Minar-e-Pakistan on the muslim nation’s Independence Day, another video of a woman being sexually assaulted, reportedly from the same day, has become the talking point of the hour.

In the new video shared on social media, two women are seen travelling in an open rickshaw on a busy road when a man jumps onto the footboard of the vehicle and kisses her on the cheek.

The video clip shows two women with a child seated between them in the back of a rickshaw somewhere in a busy street in Pakistan, according to The News International.

The women seem visibly disturbed and shaken at the sight of a couple of motorcyclists hounding the rickshaw, catcalling and leering at them.

The video also shows that one of the men jumps onto the rickshaw, out of nowhere, and forcibly “kisses” the woman. Startled, she and the woman beside her scream but no one intervenes, The News International reported.

One of the women can be seen retaliating as she takes her slipper off and threatens to hit a motorcyclist. Meanwhile, the woman being harassed tries to leave the rickshaw in despair but is stopped from doing so by her companion.

The rickshaw appears to be surrounded by men in cars and motorcycles carrying Pakistan’s national flag, which indicates that the incident took place during Independence Day celebrations, The News International reported.

The video sparked an outrage among social media users online who called on the government for strict punishment against sexual harassment.

This comes only a few days after a woman and her six companions, trying to shoot a TikTok video on Pakistan’s independence day were brutally attacked by a mob near Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore.

The woman alleged that her clothes were torn and she was tossed into the air by hundreds of people who also assaulted her, according to multiple reports.

The video went viral online, filling users with rage on social media.

The woman lodged an FIR against 400 people who she alleged “attacked” her and six companions. The group tried to escape but was outnumbered. Their money was stolen and the woman’s jewellery was snatched, according to the FIR.

The Lahore police has registered a case against hundreds of unidentified persons for the assault at the city’s Greater Iqbal Park.
