The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Wednesday updated the death toll in Ukraine since the Russian invasion. The international body said that at least  1,563 civilians have been killed in the war-torn country and 2,213 have been injured. 

The figures make 3,776 civilian casualties in total since February 24.

Meanwhile, the Kyiv City State Administration, on their Telegram page, wrote that at least 89 people have been killed, including four children in the capital. 

The authority further addded that 167 homes, 44 schools, 11 administrative buildings, 26 kindergartens and an orphanage have been damaged in Kyiv bu Russian troops.

Another 398 people, including 20 children, in Kyiv, were injured in the war.

The OCHCR, however, said that “the actual figures are considerably higher as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.”

The UN body further added that Mariupol and Volnovakha (Donetsk region), Izium (Kharkiv region), Popasna (Luhansk region), and Borodianka (Kyiv region) are the regions where there have been “allegations of numerous civilian casualties.”

In Kyiv, two sports facilities, five social facilities, 17 health care facilities, 10 cultural facilities and 48 facilities of transport infrastructure were hit by Russian sttacks, the city’s administrative authority added. 

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in huis address to the Security Council bashed the UN, urging it to expel Russia or dissolve itself. 

“The Russian military surge and purposefully killed anyone who served our country. They shot and killed women outside their houses when they just tried to call someone who is alive. They killed entire families, adults and children, and they tried to burn the bodies. I am addressing you on behalf of the people who honor the memory of the deceased every single day and the memory of the civilians who died, they were shot and killed in the back of their head after being tortured. Some of them were shot on the streets,” the Ukrainian President said.
