Bangladeshi cricketer Al-Amin Hossain’s arrest warrant was cancelled by a Dhaka court on Wednesday, according to a report from United News Bangladesh. It had been issued in a domestic violence case filed by his wife.
Following the filing of a reconsideration petition against the arrest warrant, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury cancelled the warrant. However, the court has now asked both parties to appear in court on October 16. The warrant was issued earlier in the day by, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain after the cricketer did not appear in court for the hearing in the case.

The cricketer did not make it to his court hearing as he is currently playing a four-day National Cricket League in Khulna, which started on Monday, according to his counsel Md Abdur Rahman Sumon.
Shamsuzzaman, the counsel for Al-Amin’s wife Israt, said during the hearing that she had no idea that a divorce claim had been filed by Al-Amin. The revelation comes in light of an October 6 affidavit submitted to the court that said that the cricketer had divorced his wife on August 25.

Al-Amin married Israt on December 6, 2012. Shortly after she gave birth to two sons. In her case, filed September 7, Israt has said that her husband did not provide any maintenance or educational expenses for their two sons. Additionally, the cricketer had demanded a dowry of Tk 20 lakh and when she refused, he would beat her. Al-Amin drove her and the two sons out of their house on August 25, according to her case statement.

After being thrown out of the house, Israt filed a complaint with the Mirpur Model police against him for torturing her over dowry on September 1. Police registered a case against the cricketer shortly after. Two days later Al-Amin messaged her that he would not be paying any educational or maintenance expenses and divorced her. On September 6, the Dhaka High Court granted the cricketer anticipatory bail for the next eight weeks in the case registered against him.
