The assembly constituency was won by Ramparvesh Rai of BJP, who defeated Reyazul Haque urf Raju of RJD in 2020. The seat, one of Bihar’s
243 assembly constituencies, falls under the Gopalganj Lok Sabha constituency.

constituency is an unreserved seat. From 1995 to 2020, the seat has been held
by either Md Nematullah or Rampravesh Rai, the two top contenders in 2015 Assembly election. From 2000 to 2015, it was held by BJP’s Rampravesh Rai who defeated
the current MLA Md Nematullah of RJD in all the assembly elections in this
period.
