Two people have been killed in a shooting at an Idaho mall on Monday with at least four other people, including a law enforcement officer, being injured, the police said in a press briefing after the incident. The scene was reported at a shopping mall in Boise city.

The police said that at least one person has been taken into custody following the incident, according to reports from Associated Press.

Authorities said officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The majority of the mall has been cleared but police were still looking for any additional victims, Associated Press reported.

While asking the public to avoid the area, law enforcement officials said on Twitter that they are working their way through each business at the mall. Moreover, police indicated that there is no information on any additional threats as of now.

The Idaho mall, which has been identified as Boise Towne Square, is located in the largest city of the northwestern state and is also the city’s largest mall, according to reports from Associated Press.

Police were interviewing dozens of people outside the entrance to Macy’s, one of five large department stores at the mall that has 153 stores in all.

Boise Police Department said in a tweet before the media briefing, “Five people and a Boise Police officer were injured in this event. Police are making notifications to family of those involved and continuing to clear the mall.”

Cheri Gypin, of Boise, was in the mall with a friend where they walk for an hour three or four times a week. She said she heard several large bangs, but thought something had fallen from the ceiling. Then about 60 people, including families pushing strollers, came running at them, some of them shouting that there was an active shooter.

“My friend was trying to process it,” said Gypin, 60. “I just looked at her and said, ‘We’ve got to run.’ So we just ran and kept running until we got to the outer perimeter of the parking lot”, according to reports from Associated Press.

Police are also investigating what appears to be another crime scene at a restaurant near the mall.
