Football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are celebrating their birthdays today. It is a great coincidence that two of the greatest footballers of this generation were born on the same day. Neymar has, however, lots to do in terms of success in order to be named in the same list as Ronaldo and another great, Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo has rightfully booked his place in the conversation of the greatest player in history. He now has as many Ballon d’Or titles as he has won Champions League trophies.

The 36-year-old, along with Messi, has dominated the sport for over a decade. And while both of them have almost equal success, Ronaldo can be considered a little ahead of the Argentinian as he has been successful in three different clubs in three different leagues.

Neymar on the other, definitely has age by his side as he just turned 29. While he was widely criticised for his decision to leave Barca and play in Ligue 1 for PSG, he has had quite the share of success their, winning the league each year and even reaching the Champions League final in 2020.

When comparing Neymar to Ronaldo at 27, the Brazilian has more goals, assists and trophies than Ronaldo according to Give Me Sport.

But currently, he has quite a competition from the likes of teammate Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, Mohammed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne to name a few. What Neymar seem to lack is commitment and hardwork, which he needs to work on in order to achieve greater success.
