Live music venues can go unrecognizable due to the present COVID-19 situation, which has hit the UK economy to its worst recession ever, reported AP.

According to the charity Music Venue Trust, which holds the representation of 670 grassroots venues, more than 400 venues around the country are at stake. The live music venues have been shut for the past five months.

Though the government announced that the indoor and socially-distanced live music events could be resumed, the organisers aren’t much hopeful in bringing back the economic loss they have encountered.

Mark Davyd, founder and CEO of the Music Venue Trust, said, “The truth is that actually only 11% of venues will be able to open in a financially viable manner.”

Only a few venues are equipped to hold socially-distant events and the majority of them would end up losing too much money in putting up a show.

Davyd also added, “In total, these venues are going to be over 60 million pounds in debt by the end of September.”

A 2.25 million pounds funds have been declared by the government for the 150 grassroot venues as part of the “culture recovery package.”
