In the Group B of Copa America 2021, Brazil completed a late comeback over Colombia to win the match 2-1 on Thursday at Olympic Stadium. Brazil also sealed their top spot in the group. Luis Diaz put Colombia ahead in the 10th minute with an acrobatic finish inside the box. But late goals from the Brazilians, Roberto Firmino in the 78th minute and Casemiro in the 10th minute of the second-half stoppage time, meant that Brazil went home with all three points.

Diaz’s finish off Juan Cuadrado’s cross from the right-wing is probably up there as one of the goals of the season. Cuadrado put the ball into the box past the far post. And Diaz, who was around the penalty spot area, finished it with a scissor kick. Weverton in goal could not do anything to stop it as he was beaten by pace.

In the 78th minute, Renan Lodi’s cross from the left-wing into the box was met by Firmino’s head. Firmino’s header bounced just in front of David Ospina, who got a touch on its way to the net. The ball trickled past the goal-line despite Ospina’s save.

In the final minute of the stoppage time, Brazil won a corner, which was taken by Neymar. The corner-kick was met by Casemiro who headed the ball past Ospina. It was virtually the last action of the game. And Colombia, despite leading for 77 minutes, finished the match empty-handed.

Colombia, after playing all four matches in the group, currently stand second on the table. The three teams below Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela, all have a match in hand and are within two points from Colombia.
