Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for COVID-19, reported AFP quoting Portuguese football federation confirmed on Tuesday.

The Juventus star was on international duty and played against France in the 0-0 draw on Sunday.

According to the federation, the Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation.

The 35-year-old has been ruled out of Portugal’s clash against Sweden.

However, as of now all the other players in the Portuguese squad have tested negative and are available to play the next match.

The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed the news in an official statement on Tuesday, which reads: “Cristiano Ronaldo was released from training with the national team after a positive test for COVID-19, so he will not face Sweden.”

“Following the positive test, the remaining players underwent new tests on Tuesday morning, and all produced a negative result and are available to Fernando Santos for training this afternoon.”
