Other than most glamorous apparels that can even make Carrie Bradshaw of %u2018Sex and The City%u2019 jealous and beautiful locations of Paris, Netflix%u2019 %u2018Emily in Paris%u2019 made a buzz for another reason during the award season. It all started when the series got two Golden Globe nominations earlier this month, something that shocked some of the critics and stars alike.

Soon after that Los Angeles Times published a story that spoke about how the makers of the series treated some of the members Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), who vote on the awards and oversees it too, to lavish holidays in Paris .

The report also quoted one of the participants of HFPA who said that 30 out of 87 members of the HFPA were sponsored a lavish trip to Paris to visit the set and were wined and dined “like kings and queens%u201D.

It was reportedly said that Paramount – the original studio behind %u2018Emily in Paris%u2019 – paid for a junket that included a two-night stay at the five-star Peninsula Paris hotel where rooms cost $1,400 a night before a private lunch at the Muse des Arts Forains, a private museum in the city.

However, according to an article published by Business Insider, a person associated with show’s production and the junket said that “it’s unfair to say the conference is why the noms came through. In fact, several reputable publications predicted ‘Emily in Paris’ and Lily Collins would be nominated in both of their categories – including LA Times, Vanity Fair, Indiewire and Variety.”

Collins played the lead role in the series and soon after the premier, it became one of the most-watched show on OTT platform with  some section of people taking up social media to applaud the lead character for being so relatable.

“Most importantly, it should be recognized and supported that ‘Emily In Paris’ is a hugely popular and successful show,%u201D said the source in a statement.

Whatever happened to the show at Golden Globes, watching it certainly made me happy.
