A murder investigation has been initiated in the wake of a shooting incident in east London, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two individuals, including a teenager. Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in Vine Close, Hackney, around 6:30 pm on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, three victims with gunshot wounds were discovered. Tragically, a 42-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The other two victims, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, were transported to the hospital, where their conditions are currently under assessment, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The process of informing the deceased woman’s next of kin is underway, and as of now, no arrests have been made. Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall, representing the local policing team in Hackney, expressed her condolences, stating, “This shocking incident has resulted in the death of a young woman, and my thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time. My thoughts are also with the two people who have been taken to hospital.”
The investigation is in its early stages, with a team of specialized detectives diligently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police officers will remain at the scene overnight, and their presence will continue in the area over the coming days.
