Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX CEO, confirmed that his mother – Maye Musk – sleeps in his “garage” while visiting her son in Texas. The 74-year-old model told The Times “You can’t have a fancy house near a rocket site” when mentioning her living arrangements while visiting the world’s richest man. 

Musk replied to the article published by New York Post, saying “Yes, but I’ve done a lot with the place!”

Musk has always maintained that he’s not interested in material possessions, and in April, the entrepreneur said that he doesn’t “even own a home right now”, and stays at friends’ places. Later, the entrepreneur shared details of his home, saying that his primary residence was a rental from SpaceX, worth $50,000. It is also conveniently close to SpaceX’s Texas location.

Last summer, the billionaire said that he would devote his life to Mars and earth and began putting his real estate holdings up for sale. “I am selling almost all physical possessions. Will own no house”, Musk tweeted in 2020, adding, “Don’t need the cash. Possession just weighs you down.” 

True to form, Musk has mostly posted about SpaceX and Tesla on social media while sharing updates about Neuralink – his neurotechnology company developing implantable brain-machine interfaces. 

The 51-year-old seems to have some material interests though, and was recently seen on a yacht, and is a known gamer – having recently praised Elden Ring. However, Musk has maintained that his mission is to help humanity and work for its future. Thus, the entrepreneur shunned any hints of an affair with Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s estranged wife Nicole Shanahan.

Most recently, Musk took time out to wish the Artemis mission the very best for its space voyage and has also contemplated how nuclear energy will be the need of the future.
