While evident cracks emerged in Arsenal‘s performance on Sunday, a late-winner from Alexandre Lacazette sealed a dramatic 2-2 draw for the North London club against Crystal Palace

As Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira returned to face his former club as a manager of Palace, the Gunners were left haunted at Emirates Stadium with the visitors leading deep into injury time. But Lacazette managed to turn home a rebound off saved Ben White shot in the fifth minute of added time before celebrating with Arsenal fans.

Ahead of the game, Wilfried Zaha was the only notable absentee from the Palace lineup.

Vieira’s return to the club where he brought glory to Arsenal as club captain ended in misery, with the Frenchman crouching down and pounding the turf.

Palace came from behind to score twice in the second half after Arsenal took the lead through club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the eighth minute.

The Arsenal defensive midfielders playing in his previous position, Thomas Partey and substitute Albert Sambi Lokonga, whose errors contributed to both Palace goals, would not have impressed Vieira.

Partey was dispossessed of the ball for the first time in the 50th minute by attacker Jordan Ayew. Christian Benteke of Crystal Palace gathered the ball and cut inside before blasting past goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The ball was then lost by Lokonga to Gallagher, who ultimately handed it over to Odsonne Edouard. The former Celtic forward hammered the ball home with ease.

After the win, Arsenal are now in 12th position on the standings, while Palace was in 14th. Arsenal lost the first three games of their season before winning the next three and finally drawing the two on matches on the trot.

Meanwhile, Palace have won just one, drawing five and losing two from seven games so far this season.
