England take on Ukraine in the quarter-final of Euro 2020 at Stadio Olimpico, Rome. The two sides have met seven times, England leading the head-to-head 4-1. The Three Lions’ only loss to Ukraine came in 2009.

While Gareth Southgate’s men are riding on their 2-0 win over Germany, Ukraine defeated Sweden 2-1.

The likes of Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount were included in England’s starting XI.  Midfielders Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice are each a booking. While Rice made it to the first XI, Phillips will start on the bench. Bukayo Saka, who was handed an unlikely start against Germany and Jack Grealish didn’t get a starting berth.

Ukrainian striker Artem Besedin was ruled out of the remainder of the Euros with suspected cruciate ligament damage in his left knee.

England starting lineup: Pickford, Walker, Shaw, Rice, Stones, Maguire, Kane, Sterling, Philips, Sancho, Mount

Ahead of the game England’s manager Gareth Southgate warned his players not to rest on their laurels as they aim to reach the Euro 2020 semi-finals. Southgate’s side is heavy favourites to progress from the quarter-final in Rome.
