Manchester United striker Marcus
Rashford
applauded the ‘charitable efforts’ of a nine-year-old fan Jacob Worthington
by surprising him with a new PS5 and a letter.

Schoolboy Jacob Worthington
climbed Snowdown, a mountain in Wales, to raise over £170 for one of Rashford’s
favourite charities, FareShare, which fights hunger and food waste by redistributing
surplus food.

In the letter, Rashford wrote: “We are not kind to be noticed. We
are kind because it’s the right thing to do. It feels good to help others.

“I’ve been so proud reading stories on my Twitter about the work you
have been doing, and how it has helped people in the last year.”

He continued: “To show my appreciation, I wanted to make sure that
I acknowledged these kind gestures with a gift.

“Not all gestures are going to be rewarded but know that you are
appreciated, and every time you look at this gift remember how good it feels to
lookout for others.”

While talking to Manchester
Evening News, Jacob’s dad, John Worthington said, “I sent him our address
thinking we would get a signed picture, but we couldn’t believe it when a big
parcel arrived. At first, we thought it was just a PS5 box with something else
inside it, but then we saw it really had the console inside.”

“He was made up, he was over the moon – he still is, he can’t
believe he got it.”

John had told earlier, “Jacob is a massive fan of Marcus
especially after watching a documentary on him during the lockdown. It inspired him
to run 20km raising over £250 for FareShare.”

He added: “It was Jacob’s granddad
that mentioned we should tackle Snowdon for charity. We both had a great day
and saw some amazing views although it got a bit cloudy at the summit.

“I’m not sure what charity works Jacob has planned next but I’m
sure he’ll think of something.”

written on Twitter “Well done buddy” accompanied by a red love heart after
