The Jasmine flower is
not only beautiful but also has its medicinal value. It has various names like
Raat ki Rani, Parijaat, Harsingar, and night-blooming jasmine. As the name
suggests, it blooms during the night and loses its brightness during the
day.

Used in Ayurveda to cure
various diseases, the plant has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and
antibacterial properties. The plant has a medicinal value from the leaves to the
roots.

The leaves are used to
cure fever, cold, cough, arthritis, worm infestation, etc. The juice of the
leaves works as a tonic. The flower is good for gastric and respiratory
problems. The stem is used to treat joint pains and malaria.

Ayurveda specialist Dixa Bhavsar has
recently posted on Instagram mentioning the therapeutic benefits of the flower.
The post mentions that its botanical name is nyctanthes arbortristis.

Bhavsar has mentioned
some medicinal applications for Jasmine: 

Sciatica- Grind 3 to 4
leaves, boil them in water and strain them. Drink the strained water twice a
day on an empty stomach.

Swelling- Boil the
leaves, make a decoction and drink.

Dry cough- Grind the
leaves to extract the juice and drink it with honey.

Intestinal worms- Grind
the leaves. Take 2 tbsp of these with mishri and water.

Fever- Boil 3gm bark and
2gm leaves with 2-3 leaves of tulsi in water and drink it twice a day.

Anxiety- Night jasmine
oil is used in aromatherapy for anxiety because it increases serotonin levels
in the brain and elevates mood.
