Mehul Choksi, a fugitive diamantaire, who is in the custody of the Dominican police, said that he was “beaten mercilessly” by eight to ten people in Antigua. Choksi is the key accused in Punjab National Bank’s loan fraud case. He is currently facing a court trial for illegally entering Dominica, reports ANI.

“8-10 men who claimed to be from Antiguan Police beat me mercilessly. I was barely conscious”, said Choksi. “They took my phone, watch and wallet. They told me that they didn’t want to rob me & returned my money”, reported ANI.

“Over the past year, I have been on friendly terms with Barbara Jabarica. On May 23, she asked me to pick her up at her house. When I went there, 8-10 men appeared from all the entrances and beat me mercilessly”, said Choksi in a complaint to Antiguan police, according to ANI.

Choksi said that Jabarica’s behaviour hinted that she was a part of the entire incident. “When I was being beaten up, Jabarica didn’t even attempt to help me or assist in any other way by calling for help from outside; manner in which Jabarica conducted herself clearly points that she was an integral part of this entire scheme to kidnap me”, added Choksi, reported ANI.

A few days earlier, Choksi was nabbed by police in Dominica after he was reportedly attempting to flee to Antigua and Barbuda with the help of his agent.
