The head of security of Haiti’s slain President Jovenel Moise was arrested by law enforcement officials as part of the investigation of the assassination that happened earlier this month.

Jean Laguel Civil, was taken by Haiti police on the suspicion of his involvement in the assassination, which happened in the middle of the night by gunmen who did not shoot a single bullet to get through the President’s security.

Civil was already put in solitary confinement in a prison near Haiti’s capital city.

“I can confirm that Jean Laguel Civil was arrested Monday by police as part of the investigation into the assassination of president Jovenel Moise,” police spokeswoman Marie Michelle Verrier told AFP.

Maire Michelle, the spokesperson for Haiti Police said, “I can confirm that Jean Laguel Civil was arrested Monday by police as part of the investigation into the assassination of president Jovenel Moise”, according to reports from AFP.

In addition to this, the international movement of four police officers has been restricted by the capital city’s commissioner. The police officials were also part of the security team of President Moise.

Police on Monday also issued a warrant for Wendell Coq Thelot, a judge for the highest court in the country who had been fired by Moise, AFP reported.

Details of the assassination remain unclear, but newly installed Prime Minister Ariel Henry has promised to bring Moise’s killers to justice, according to reports from AFP.

About 20 Colombian mercenaries have been taken into custody by Haiti’s law enforcement officials after the President was assassinated in early July.
