We understand how tough it is to overcome bad habits, but taking care of oneself is one of the most effective ways to maintain one’s health, so in honour of Father’s Day 2020, we’re promoting some good behaviour that all dads should embrace in order to live a long and healthy life. Fitness experts recommend making small changes to your daily routine if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and enjoy your life without being injected with a variety of shots. Even the smallest healthy change can have a big impact.

“When it comes to developing good habits such as Try to consume vitamin medicine twice a week, weight management, moderate frequent exercise, quitting smoking, reducing alcohol use, and eating a healthy balanced diet, small steps add up over time and this should improve fathers’ health and lifestyle,” Dr Meena Bhatt, Gynaecologist and Founder of Meena Poly-Clinic, said in an interview with HT Lifestyle. Hand washing is an example of a healthy habit that helps keep your health in check. Avoid picking your nose because it transmits illnesses like colds and flu. Improve your breathing technique, make it a habit to eat a healthy breakfast, avoid sugary foods that can have a negative impact on your weight and skin, and clip your nails on a regular basis to keep germs at bay.

Dr. Anirudha Mohite, Ayurveda Practitioner and Wellness Consultant at NirogStreet, asserted that it’s never too late to start becoming healthier, and that Ayurveda offers simple things that can help fathers develop a better version of themselves for a long and happy life. “, he explained “The first guideline of living a healthy life is to eat seasonally and embrace all things natural; this will improve your immunity and overall health. There is no other option except to live an active life and to practise yoga, which is good at any age. Making Yoga a part of your everyday practise can benefit your health like nothing else.”

He continued, “Make it a point to see your doctor on a regular basis. Focus on your gut health as time goes on, as our gut health gets more stable. Make dietary modifications and maintain an active lifestyle to keep your gut healthy. If our stomach is healthy, we can solve half of our problems. Give up alcohol and smoking; they are both dangerous to your health. All of these things will surely boost your immunity and make you stronger on the inside, allowing you to live a longer and more fulfilling life.”

Nutritionist Sapna Jaysingh Patel, Founder of Health Before Wealth, contributed her expertise to the topic by listing five fundamental healthy behaviours that every father should do to live a healthier and happy life:

1. Eat a healthy diet – A healthy diet is the foundation of good health. Even if dads don’t always have time to prepare gourmet meals, they may still eat a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. Processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive levels of saturated and harmful fats should all be avoided by fathers.

2. Exercise on a regular basis – Exercise is an important part of maintaining good health. Dads should obtain at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day to keep fit and healthy and minimise their risk of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Going for a stroll, playing catch with the kids, or riding a bike can all be examples of this.

3. Get enough sleep – When dad’s busy schedule gets hectic, one of the first things to go is sleep. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, can have major health repercussions for Dad. Fatigue, irritation, and a compromised immune system can all result from a lack of sleep. To acquire the rest they require, fathers should strive for 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

4. Manage stress – Stress is a natural part of life, but it can have a negative impact on dad’s health if it isn’t properly managed. Anxiety, depression, and elevated blood pressure are all symptoms of stress. Exercise, relaxation techniques, or talking to a friend or family member are all good strategies for dads to manage stress.

5. Speak to the professional- Last but not least, fathers should ensure that they see their doctor on a regular basis. This is critical for maintaining good health and detecting any potential health issues early. Dads should get a physical exam once a year, or more frequently if they have any chronic health issues. They should also follow the recommendations for cancer and heart disease screenings.

Dads can prioritise their health and live a long and healthy life by following these easy guidelines.
