One of Elon Musk’s children no longer wishes to be related to him. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, himself, reportedly had a strained relationship with his father though Errol, in a recent interview had said that the two patched things up. Indeed, Musk – the man who urges everyone to have more children to avoid a ‘population collapse’ – also tweeted a ‘Happy father’s day‘ message, and has repeatedly pointed to himself as being the exception when it comes to a rich person having children.

So, how many children does the world’s richest man have? The 50-year-old has seven children from three different relationships.

Children with Justine Wilson

Musk had five children with Justine Wilson, his first wife. This includes twins Xavier, who now wants to change their given name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, and Griffin, along with triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian. All five kids were conceived via In vitro fertilization (IVF), where the matured egg is collected from the ovary and fertilized by a sperm cell in a laboratory. Wilson and Musk also had another child, Nevada, who died of sudden infant death syndrome, which is when an infant dies of inexplicable causes, within a year of their birth.

Children with Grimes

The entrepreneur’s other two children are with Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher. One of them is X Æ A-Xii, pronounced “X Ash A Twelve”, as Musk explained in an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast.

He explained that “A-Xii” in the name refers to a CIA program “Archangel 12”, which created the SR-71 airplane.

Grimes and Musk had another child via surrogacy, in December 2021. The girl’s name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, and she goes by “Y” as opposed to their son’s “X”.

Grimes, who announced the news in a Vanity Fair story, said “Exa” refers to “exaFLOPS”, which is the “ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second.”

Dark, the middle name, refers to the unknown. Grimes noted to VF, “People fear it but truly it’s the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.”

“Sideræl”, meanwhile is a more elven way to say “sidereal” as per Grimes, who said it is “true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative Earth time.”
