Elon Musk, Twitter and SpaceX CEO, is in the habit of exhibiting his sense of humour through his posts and has done just that, putting up a picture of French King Louis XIV, calling the monarch “Borderline too sexy”.

Musk continued, praising the footwear, saying “Great shoes”, before noting the painting was “Incredible art”.

However, Musk’s fascination with the “Sun King”, known for his great wealth and power, runs deeper. Speaking at a TED conference in Vancouver last month, the entrepreneur slammed Mark Zuckerberg for having too much sway over the public debate, given that Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp.

“As for media sort of ownership, I mean, you’ve got Mark Zuckerberg owning Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp, and with a share ownership structure that will have Mark Zuckerberg XIV still controlling those entities”, Musk said, adding, ”

We won’t have that at Twitter”.

The billionaire’s comments were made amid his $44 billion deal to acquire and take Twitter private, a deal that has now been put on hold. While the details are worked out, Musk has continued his push to make Twitter code open source, believing it will fix many of the bugs that exist currently.

The 50-year-old also noted that the Twitter algorithm manipulates users into seeing top posts instead of the most recent ones, showing them how to toggle between the two. Musk stated that the information had been brought to Twitter users by the “Illuminaughty”, riffing off the name of an Enlightenment-era Bavarian secret society.

However, after the social media platform co-founder and fellow free speech advocate Jack Dorsey pointed out that the feature is merely meant to help users save time and see posts if they’ve been away from the app for long, Musk altered his statement to reflect his belief that Twitter’s algorithm wasn’t “malicious“.
