Boris Johnson resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on July 7, 2022. A case of 2008 regarding Johnson surfaced very recently. The former British PM served as the Mayor of London and MP from Henley in 2008. He is accused of misusing his power by trying for a job in the city hall for a woman.

According to the Sunday Times, the unnamed woman was interviewed for a City Hall job when Johnson was married and serving as Mayor of London in 2008. Kit Malthouse, a celebrity, stated that the woman was not a good fit for the job because Johnson was too close to her. 

He has been accused of pleading guilty in another case. Being the mayor of London he used the public tax money for a business trip with American businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri. Arcuri later confessed that she had an affair with Johnson. According to the Sunday Times, a tape record conversation of 2017 disclosed their brief relationship in 2008.

Pincher Affair

Chris Pincher is a former member of Parliament and the deputy chief whip for the Conservative Party. He attended a private members club on June 29. He claimed to have drunk a lot and “embarrassed himself” at the club. He was accused of groping two men at the club. According to the reports, he has been charged with a sexual assault case, one in 2013 and one in 2019.

Partygate refers to a political scandal in the UK about parties and gatherings of government and Conservative Party staff held during the COVID-19 pandemic. There were allegations in this scandal that PM Johnson had a party in the PM’S office and violated the strict COVID-19 lockdown rules.

There are still ongoing investigations about Johnson repeatedly misleading lawmakers by refusing to be aware of illegal parties. Johnson stated that at that time the gatherings did not break the law but now admits that he was mistaken.
