Do you qualify for an income tax refund? You are entitled to an income tax refund if you paid more tax than your actual tax due in a given fiscal year. You must request a refund on your income tax return (ITR) for that tax year. You will get your income tax refund whenever the tax department reviews your ITR and verifies it via an intimation notice. Please keep in mind that this notification is being issued to you in accordance with Section 143 (1) of the Income-tax Act of 1961. The current extended deadline for filing returns for FY2020-21 is December 31, 2021.
