Billionaire Jeff Bezos will fly to space on his Blue origin rocket at 5pm IST on Tuesday. He will be accompanied by his brother Mark Bezos, 82-year-old Wally Funk and 18-year-old Oliver Daemen.

With hours to go for New Shepard’s take-off, 57-year-old Jeff Bezos said he was excited and curious. “People keep asking if I am nervous. I am not really nervous, I am excited. I am curious. I want to know what we are going to learn,” Bezos told the ‘CBS This Morning’ programme on Monday.

When Bezos takes off in New Shepard on Tuesday, several records will be made. Apart from being the first unpiloted launch, the spaceflight’s passengers include the oldest and the youngest people to travel to space. Bezos founded Blue Origin in 2000, well before Amazon reached profitability. Bezos said he has wanted to travel to space since he was a young child.

Where to watch

You will be able to watch the launch on Blue Origin’s YouTube channel and also on the Blue Origin website. The date coincides with the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The launch will begin at 6:30 a.m. CT (5pm IST).

The trip will last 10-15 minutes.
