Answer: Zend Avesta

Zend Avesta is the sacred book of the Zoroastrian religion. Zend Avesta means “interpretation of the Avesta.” The Parsis are the people who follow the holy book Zend Avesta and their religion is Zoroastrianism. They are an ethnoreligious group in the Indian subcontinent and their ancestors had migrated to India from Iran.

This holy book contains the teaching of Prophet Zoroaster. The religious book Zend Avesta was written in the ancient Iranian language, Avestan and is used by the people and priests during any Zoroastrian rituals. The original manuscripts of the religious book had been destroyed when Alexander the Great conquered Persia. But the present-day holy book has been recovered from the remnants during the period of the Sasanian King.

The Zend Avesta is in five parts. The religious core of the holy book Gathas contain songs and hymns. Yasna forms the middle section of the religious book and it contains sacrificial ritual of the preparation and sacrifice of haoma. The Visp-rat contains homages to various Zoroastrian spiritual leaders. The Vendidad serves as the main source of Zoroastrian law. The Yashts are 21 hymns about various ancient heroes of Persia.

The Khudra Avesta also known as the little Avesta is a minor text that contains hymns and prayers for special occasions. The  fragments contain incomplete texts and there are about 20 fragment collections, many of which are unnamed. The most important of all the fragment collections are the Nirangistan fragments.
