After watching the English batsmen struggle against spin in Srilanka against Dinesh Chandimal and company, England great Kevin Pietersen shared an email that Rahul Dravid had written to him, explaining how to tackle spin bowling in challenging challenging conditions.

Pietersen gained fame as a frequent switch-hitter to arguably the greatest Test bowler – Muttiah Muralitharan – in 2006, had been struggling to face quick spin in the subcontinent in 2010. He decided to seek help from the ‘Indian wall’ Rahul Dravid, who wrote him a two-paged email explaining the techniques to counter spinners in challenging conditions.

The ‘Most complete batsman’ shared the pictures of the email on Twitter, asking the English management to share it with the openers, who seemingly have no clue playing the turns of Lasith Embuldeniya. The left-arm orthodox has dismissed Sibley and Crawley in all the three innings they’ve faced each other. On Day 2 of the second Test, both England openers again fell cheaply, leaving the visitors tottering at two for five.

In the email, Dravid explained about the ways one can handle and prepare for spin in the subcontinent. He emphasized much on not committing on the front foot and further reading from the hand of the bowler.

“Crawley & Sibley need to go find the email that Dravid sent me about playing spin. Changed my game,” Pieterson tweeted.

“Hey @englandcricket, print this and give it to Sibley & Crawley.
They can call me to discuss it at length if they want,” he said.

The English team after winning the first Test match, reduced Sri Lanka to 381 in the first innings of the second game. Joe Root and company will start Day 3 on 98/2.
