Liz Truss will take over as the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister on Tuesday, a day after becoming the Conservative Party’s new leader. Truss received 81,326 votes, besting competitor and former Treasury chief Rishi Sunak, who secured 60,399 votes.

After being appointed by Queen Elizabeth II, Truss is expected to pick her cabinet, which may be filled with some loyalists — and surprises.

Kwasi Kwarteng- Finance Minister

Kwasi Kwarteng, who currently serves as the business and energy secretary in the UK, is likely to be the new PM’s pick for the Finance Minister’s office, media reports suggest. If confirmed, Kwarteng will be taking control of a struggling economy. Inflation is above 10% for the first time since the 1980s, and the Bank of England has predicted that will reach a 42-year high of 13.3% in October.

James Cleverly- Foreign Minister

James Cleverly, who currently serves as the Education Minister in the UK, may take over Liz Truss’ current office, the Times of India reported citing unnamed sources from Truss’ campaign. James Cleverly has been a member of parliament since 2015 and is associated with the Conservative Party.

Ben Wallace- Defence Minister

Ben Wallace is likely to be one of the few cabinet members who will retain office after Boris Johnson’s exit from the Prime Minister’s office. Wallace, 52, has previously served in the British military and has vowed to increase its spending budget.

Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak may be the surprise element in Liz Truss’ cabinet announcement. Sunak, who was Truss’ main opposition in the elections, has previously said that he would not continue to serve if Truss takes the Prime Minister’s office. However, Times of India reported that Sunak may be offered the office of UK’s health secretary.

Sajid Javid

The former health minister of the United Kingdom may be offered the role of Northern Ireland’s Secretary after Truss takes office. Sajid Javid’s resignation earlier this year is considered to be the starting point of Boris Johnson’s removal from office.
