Kate Herron kick-started her career by directing for Netflix%u2019s superhit show %u2018Sex Education,%u2019 apart from that she has not directed any major movie or show. But thanks to her persistent and passionate efforts that Loki is now one of the most acclaimed series of all time. So when she was given the chance to direct Loki, Kate knew exactly the vibe she was going for.

Herron, in an exclusive interview, discussed what she brought to the already well-established world of marvel%u2019s Loki, and how her identity as a woman filmmaker contributed to the lead character’s gender fluidity and mixing polar-opposite genres to construct a unique world for the God of Mischief aka %u2018Loki.%u2019 She also shared that the series, for her, has been a beautiful journey of self-discovery as someone trying to find her place in the universe. 

She said, %u201CI love genre cinema, and I love sci-fi and I love fantasy. But what was really important to me was stripping away all the fantastical elements to find the heart of this story. In Loki, if we took away all the bells and whistles of this story, what is the relatable message at the center?%u2019, a report by News 18.

She added: %u201CFor me, it was a journey of self-discovery and someone trying to find their place in the universe because, obviously, we literally delete his universe. We delete his reality. It is a story of reinvention and also morality. Can Loki find goodness in himself? Loki%u2019s journey, to me, is really about acceptance of himself.” Herron also described working on Loki as a dream come true for her, according to News 18.

She further described how she always wanted to direct stories that are big scale. Herron also happens to be a big Loki fan. She said, %u201CI just wanted to be part of whatever this character%u2019s next chapter was going to be and see what they were going to do with him. So I pursued Marvel very heavily, I would say, for this job. I was very keen,%u201D Herron says.

A new episode of the series will release on June 7 on Disney plus. The series stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, along with Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant to name a few.
