Police are reponding to an active shooting situation near Longhorn Saloon in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada on Sunday. There are reports of at least two people being shot. Graphic images of the wounded were also shared online.

According to authorities, two people who were shot at the scene have been found. Despite efforts to save the wounded, paramedics on the spot pronounced them dead.

Residents and businesses have been advised to lock their doors immediately, and everyone has been advised to seek and remain in a secure location. According to reports, the individual who is currently shooting is not in custody.

The culprit, who has not been identified, is now at large and on the run. The suspect, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is still in the area. There was no immediate information on the shooter’s appearance at this time.

As per Fox3, more than two dozen law enforcement agencies are reacting to the incident. The Fitzsimmons Express and the Whistler Village Gondola are currently on an immediate lockdown, the report cites law enforcement agencies.

One person called CityNews at about 12:30 PM, and said he heard multiple shots fired near the gondola.

“My hotel is under lockdown cause there’s an active shooter and two dead in whistler man I’m so sad this shit doesn’t happen here,” a Twitter user said.  

Many people are seeking the shooter in various areas of Whistler Village right now. No further victims of the incident, which many people have characterised as tragic and terrifying, have been located.

At 12 p.m., witness Scott Cargo heard gunshots at Fanatyk Co, reported Fox3.

“I was out here just simply checking at some bikes… and I heard gunshots,” Cargo explained.

“Then, a little kid from [Mountainside Lodge] came running down, came tearing down here, and said there was a shooting down there,” he added.

Cargo stated that his first impulse was to close the store.

“I locked the doors, kept everyone in the store, and instructed everyone to stay away from the window,” he said.

Hotels and businesses in the village are reportedly closed.
