Three people, including two police officers, were killed in Nagano, Japan on Thursday. Local media reports said that the suspect has been taken into custody, as per news agency AFP.
The alleged attacker, as per reports, stabbed a woman. He then fired a hunting rifle, killing two police officers in Nagano. A fourth person was injured.

Japanese public broadcaster NHK, citing local police, on Friday reported that the suspect is in police custody. He barricaded himself in Nakano City Council Chairman Masamichi Aoki’s home.
NHK added that Aoki is the suspect’s father. However, we cannot confirm the identity yet.
The victims’ identities have not been revealed. The casualties, however, include a woman in her 40s. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The officers were aged 46 and 61, NHK quoted police.
The Japan Broadcasting Corporation quoted a witness saying that he saw a woman run towards him pleading for help. He was chased by a masked man – apparently the suspect. The alleged attacker has been described as a man in his 30s.

He had stabbed her with a knife in the back, NHK reported.
Police said that the suspect was wearing a camouflage outfit, a hat, a mask and sunglasses, as per Kyodo News. Authorities set up a no-go zone in the area. Officials asked people in the area to stay at home.

The suspect’s motive is not known yet.
Shootings and stabbings are rare in Japan. Last year, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister was shot dead during a campaign speech in Nara.
