Diego Maradona’s former club Napoli honoured the legend on Thursday as players sported the number 10 jersey before their 2-0 win against Rijeka in the Europa League.

Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso called Maradona a legend, who will never die. The former AC Milan player added, “Since yesterday you could see that the city breathed a different atmosphere. We hope to dedicate something important to him and win a trophy.”

Napoli emerged triumphant on the night as they beat Croatian side Rijeka on matchday four to move to the top of Group F in the Europa League.

The Italian powerhouse ensured that fans who gathered outside to pay tribute to Argentine Maradona weren’t disappointed with the current teams performance and comfortably won their game courtesy of an Armando Anastasio own goal and a Hirving Lozano finish.

Fellow Italian side AS Roma also sealed their berth in the round of 32 with a 2-0 win against Romanian side Cluj. German side Hoffenheim became the second team to qualify for the round of 32 from Group L.

English side Leicester City secured a place in the knockout rounds from Group G, while Arsenal sealed their spot in the knockout stages of the tournament from Group B following their 3-0 win.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Bulgarian side Ludogorets by a 4 goal margin and are now level on nine points with Group J leader Royal Antwerp.

The Jose Mourinho-coached side secured a 2-0 lead in the first half from a Carlos Vinicius brace and English International Harry Winks scored the third goal for his side in the 63rd minute before Lucas Moura scored the final goal of the night in the 73rd minute to seal the game.

The other major winners on the night were Sparta Prague who defeated Celtic Rangers by a comfortable 4-1 margin and Slavia Praha secured a 3-1 win on the night against French side Nice.

With Prague’s victory, the race for the top two spots in Group H has sparked back to life as table toppers Lillie have 8 points from their four games. Breathing down their neck is Italian side AC Milan with 7 points from as many games, with Prague a close third with 6 points from their 4 games.
