Netflix will launch a new ad supported streaming tier in 2023 in partnership with which technology giant?

Intel

Oracle

Apple

Microsoft

Answer: Microsoft

Netflix’s business has been taking a hit as a result of password-sharing among users and rising competition from other streaming services. In first-quarter 2022, the company, for the first time in 10 years, saw its subscriber base falling by 200,000. In order to curb this and to reach out to more audiences, the streaming giant, last month, announced that it has partnered up with Microsoft in order to launch an ad-supported subscription tier. The tech giant will be working as Netflix’s  “global advertising technology and sales partner” once the new subscription plan is rolled out.

This will be the first time that Netflix will allow advertisements on their platform. Industry experts are of the opinion that Microsoft was chosen as Netflix’s partner in this project keeping in mind its acquisition of Xandr- a company that is vying to create technology for a world sans cookies. Besides the ad-supported tier, the company is also looking at live-streaming options. Competitors like Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ have all tied up with major sporting leagues around the world.

Regarding the new collaboration, Netflix’s Chief Operating Officer, Greg Peters wrote, “More choice for consumers and a premium, better-than-linear TV brand experience for advertisers. We’re excited to work with Microsoft as we bring this new service to life”.
